Vinted Users Voice Displeasure Regarding Size Changes
Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.
This online marketplace has updated its size classifications for female and kids' apparel without notifying all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Reaction
Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification versus the original listing due to the recalibration.
Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.
The platform has recommended to examine their items and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.
Measurement Approach Changes
Earlier, the sizing featured one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she said.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, explained she became annoyed due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".
"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The app has more than 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.
It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: earlier, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
